Bahria Medics non-profit social enterprise
BAHRIA MEDICAL AND DENTAL COLLEGE, KARACHI
Bahria Medics is a student run non-profit social enterprise; it was created in 2011 by Umar Anwar Jahangir and Muhammad Faizan with their fellow students in their first year of MBBS.
Bahria Medics has collaborated with the Patient Welfare Association, the Husaini Hematology and Oncology trust and most recently with the Indus Hospital. It runs its own blood bank in association with these organizations and provides a service of blood bag pick-up and delivery for student, faculty and staff of Bahria University.
List of Milestones achieved by Bahria Medics:
- In 2011, 50 pints of blood was donated to the Patient Welfare Association.
- In 2011, Rs. 16,000 was collected and given to the Patient welfare association Charity Box.
- In 2012, 110 pints of blood was donated to the Husaini Hematology and Oncology trust.
- In 2013, 60 pints of blood was donated to the Husaini Hematology and Oncology trust.
- In 2013, 50 pints of blood was donated to the Husaini Thalassemia Center.
- In 2013, an intra-college FIFA tournament was organized by the Bahria Medics Team.
- In 2013, shortly after the Baluchistan earthquake aid packages of household items worth Rs. 700,000/- were sent to the disaster affected areas.
- In 2014, 68 pints of blood was donated to the Indus Hospital Blood center.
