The event was held in the premises of Bahria University Medical and Dental College on 17th January 2017. Every year bahria medics organizes blood donation drive and it is considered as one of the main events of BUM&DC. This year it was organized in collaboration with Indus Hospital Karachi. The day started with the assembly of all medical and dental students with all faculty members at skill lab 4th floor at 10.30 am . Vice Admiral (Retd) Tahseen Ullah Khan HI (M) Director General BUMDC with Dean / Principal Prof Dr Asadullah khan and Vice Principal Medical and Dental sections inaugurated blood donation drive by ribbon cutting ceremony. Briefing was given by the President of Bahria Medics Aqsa Mahfooz and Osama Waheed of final year MBBS to the Director General regarding the arrangement and the procedure of blood collection especially the safety measurements that were taken before drawing blood out from donor till the process of screening and blood storage .
The main purpose of this activity was to collect blood for Thalassemic patients that were admitted in Indus Hospital. More than 400 students of BUM&DC participated in the blood drive . Those who fulfill the strict criteria of Indus Hospital blood bank were allowed to donate blood .
