Every year the month of August revives the spirit of patriotism . It refreshes the memories of the sacrifices made by our forefathers in 1947 so that our country could breathe independence. It reminds us of our commitment towards our nation to safeguard its rights, work towards prosperity and stand in solidarity against any threat.
Celebrated on the 14th of August, Pakistan’s Independence Day is a national holiday on which flag raising ceremonies are held throughout the country and special programs are organized to pay homage to nation’s brave heroes and show support for the on going struggle of freedom in Kashmir.
Independence day for any country is like a festival and the people of Pakistan celebrate this festival with enthusiasm and joy. They unite together under the green and white flag of Pakistan and rejoice their happiness with friends and family. People from all over the country have different ways of celebrating the Independence Day. As special functions are held throughout the country, same way Independence Day was also celebrated at Bahria University Medical and Dental College on 14th August, Sunday morning from 9:00 am till 11:00am
The entire arrangements of the event were organized by Dr Daud Mirza, Head Of Department, Oral Pathology along with students of Third Year BDs. The college’s courtyard was all decorated with huge flags on each floor along with green and white colored balloons and ribbons. All faculty members from Medical and Dental sections were assembled at the courtyard at 9:00 where Chief Guest Vice Admiral (Retd) Tahseen Ullah Khan HI (M), Director General Bahria University Medical and Dental College conducted the Flag hoisting Ceremony. After that cake was cut by the chief guest and following him were Prof Brig Shaheen Moin Dean and Principal Medical Section BUMDC and Principal Dental Section Dr Zubair Ahmed Abbassi.
National anthem and songs were played by students. Everyone who attended the event was dressed up in green and white. And at last refreshments were conducted.
Overall it was a great event arranged and organized by Dr Daud Mirza and we all are highly thankful to him for his such wonderful efforts in making this Day more special and memorable for us all.
