Topic Brief Description:

Hybrid project management blends traditional and agile methods to increase flexibility and efficiency. This strategy necessitates comprehensive monitoring, assessment, and quality assurance procedures in sectors like oil and gas to ensure project authenticity. Hybrid project management fortifies decision-making processes by seamlessly incorporating sophisticated methodologies, including Bayesian Belief Networks for uncertain risk assessment, System Dynamics for dynamic scenario simulations, Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis for managing diverse project objectives, and Structural Equation Modeling for testing causal relationships. These tools facilitate adapting to both instant operational and future risks, guaranteeing the delivery of value and the integrity of projects, particularly during crises.

Research Objectives/Deliverables:

  1. To determine the efficacy of hybrid project management in dealing with operational issues and future risks in high-stakes industries such as oil and gas while simultaneously improving adaptability, effectiveness, and resilience.
  2. To investigate the function of quality assurance, monitoring, and evaluation procedures in crises to ensure project integrity, mitigate risks, and facilitate value delivery.
  3. To evaluate complex decision-making approaches such as Bayesian Belief Networks, System Dynamics, Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis, and Structural Equation Modeling to improve risk management and project performance.
  4. To establish a comprehensive strategy for using mixed project management strategies to deal with long-term risks and ensure projects succeed in places prone to crises.

Deliverables

  1. A detailed research report that summarizes the results regarding the practical application and efficacy of hybrid project management methodologies in high-risk sectors.
  2. The Integrated Framework is a comprehensive set of guidelines for hybrid project managers to follow to reduce risk and maximize return on investment.
  3. The case project and recommended methods provide Advice and strategies for using hybrid project management in emergencies based on real-world examples.
  4. Knowledge resources available in academic articles, workshops, and training modules to assist practitioners and stakeholders in implementing efficient hybrid project management methodologies.

Research Questions:

  1. How does hybrid project management improve adaptability and efficiency in high-stakes industries such as oil and gas?
  2. How important are quality assurance and tracking systems in minimizing risks and ensuring value is delivered during crises?
  3. How do new techniques enable individuals to make better decisions and handle risks in hybrid project settings?
  4. What are the most essential components of the project framework to manage sustainable risks and ensure the project’s success?

Candidate’s Eligibility Profile:

  1. The applicant must have an MS/MPhil/Equivalent degree in project management with a CGPA > 3.0. Applicants must also have a strong background in data analytics techniques (Bayesian belief network, fuzzy logic, System Dynamics, Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis, and SEM), project management design/system thinking theories, and related fields.
  2. Experience with programming languages such as Python, SMART PLS, and SPSS is advantageous. Candidates should thrive in an international environment and have excellent communication skills to contribute actively to team research efforts.
  3. The candidate must be preferred based on SSCI (W-category) publication numbers and relevance to the proposed research topic.
  4. Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential. We value independence and responsibility while promoting teamwork and collaboration among colleagues.
