Introduction

The English Cluster at Bahria University Islamabad Campus was established in Spring 2021 with a primary focus on providing quality education in the field of English Literature and Linguistics. We offer a Bachelor of Science (BS) programme in English Literature and Linguistics, designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of the English language, its literature, and linguistic theories. We are also set to expand our academic offerings by launching our MPhil program in Linguistics in Spring 2025, providing students with an opportunity to pursue advanced studies in the field of linguistics.

Our cluster prides itself on a team of experienced faculty members, each specializing in various domains within the field of English literature and linguistics. The faculty's expertise spans areas such as Corpus Linguistics, Grammar and Syntax, Morphology, Systemic Functional Linguistics, Language Education, English Language Teaching (ELT), English for Specific Purposes (ESP), Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), post colonialism, American literature etc. Our faculty members are at the forefront of innovative approaches to English language teaching, equipping students with the skills and knowledge to thrive in diverse educational settings.

We aim to nurture a conducive learning environment for students, enabling them to explore and excel in the diverse domains of English literature and linguistics. We invite you to explore the rich tapestry of learning, discovery, and collaboration that defines the English Cluster.

Cluster Head's Message

It is with great pleasure and excitement to invite you to learn more about Bachelor of Studies in English Literature and Linguistics program. As the English Cluster head, I am honored to invite you to become a part of a community of enthusiastic researchers, committed teachers, and aspirant professionals.

Bachelor of Studies in English Literature and Linguistics program aims to provide you a thorough and diverse grasp of the English language, literature, and its significant influence on human communication and culture

Our primary focus to promoting analytical, creative, and critical thinking abilities is what makes our program unique. We take great care in designing our curriculum to provide a well-rounded combination of theoretical knowledge and real-world application. Through engaging discussions, interactive lectures, and practical projects, you will get a profound understanding of the subtleties.
Apart from Curricular activities, the department also provides a wide range of extracurricular activities outside of the classroom, such as writing workshops, literary clubs, theater representation and possibilities for linguistic research. These experiences are intended to enhance your academic career and give you forums for idea sharing, peer collaboration, and community engagement.
