National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA) has been established to broaden the scope of Maritime Research at Bahria University Islamabad as National Think Tank with two independent setups as National Centre for Maritime Policy Research (NCMPR) at Karachi and Islamabad. The establishment of NIMA facilitates the attainment of assigned objectives mandated by the government of Pakistan in a befitting manner. The mandate of NIMA includes multi-disciplinary study and analysis of maritime affairs. It provides guidelines and solutions to challenges in the maritime domain. The activities and interests of NIMA are mainly focused around Maritime domain which includes Security, Trade & Economy, Infrastructure, Ports & Shipping, Marine Environment, Conservation & Ocean Resources, Laws, Policies, and Awareness. In addition, NIMA also provides opportunities to students/researchers and help them to carryout research in Maritime fields.
