The Department of Operative Dentistry of Bahria University Medical and Dental College conducted a hands-on Rotary Endodontics Workshop on 21th March 2017. The workshop was arranged to provide theoretical and hands-on training to House Residents of BUMDC regarding Rotary Endodontics and was arranged and supervised by Head of Department of Operative Dentistry, Dr. Shama Asghar.
The esteemed guest speakers for the workshop were Dr. Abubakr Sheikh, Head of Department of Endodontics at Fatima Jinnah Dental College, and Dr. Maimoona Khan, Head of Department of Operative Dentistry at Sir Syed Medical and Dental College.
Among the guests were honorable Director General Bahria University Medical and Dental College Vice Admiral (Rtd.) Tahseenullah Khan (HI) M and Vice Principal Dr. Kulsoom Fatima Rizvi. Attendees of the workshop were Head of Departments, Lecturers of Operative Dentistry Department and House Residents.
The session began with a detailed lecture by both speakers on rotary endodontics, with emphasis on canal preparation including teeth with complex root anatomy. A hands-on demonstration of rotary root canal preparation with Diadent file system was then carried out. The students learned all steps of successful endodontic treatment, from access preparation to final obturation and filling.
The lecture was followed by distribution of awards to both esteemed speakers by Honorable Director General, who acknowledged and highly appreciated the workshop arrangement by Head of Department of Operative Dentistry, Dr. Shama Asghar and spoke a few words to encourage the students to learn and benefit from such educational workshops. Certificates of participation were also awarded to all attendees and participants of the workshop.
