BUCM’s Strategic Plan for Faculty Capacity Building & Research Output
OBJECTIVES:
The objectives of Strategic plan for Faculty Capacity Building & Research Output at BUCM are:
- Develop and retain high quality research Faculty
- Enhance research output of the university.
- Enhance applied research capacity.
- Develop research links with academic and research institutes.
- Encourage enterpreneurial culture across departments.
- Provide faculty with opportunities to present research at National and International Conferences/forums.
- Grow and diversify external research funding.
- Implementation of research support system for policy making,coordinating and overseeing all research activities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- 1 impact factor publication or 2 publication in HEC or PMDC recognized journals per department per annum.
- Faculty facilitation to pursue PhD (locally & internationally) – per annum
- Faculty training workshops (minimum 3 mandatory training workshops for Professors, 4 for associate Professors and 5 for Assistant Professors and Demonstrators per annum in leadership, Communication skills, Advanced Research and Commercialization, Supervisory skills, Curriculum development & Evaluation, Educational Strategies and innovation, Assessment strategies).
- Cumulative impact factor of publications per faculty member.
- Minimum 2 workshops to be organized by each basic and clinical sciences department in the Annual Research Conference of BUCM.
- Minimum 1 paper to be presented by each department in the Annual Research Conference of BUCM.
- Organization of an Annual Research Conference.
- % of HEC approved PhD supervisors at BUCM.
- Submission of 1 research proposal by each department annually with completion maximum within 12 months after ERB approval . Extension in completion may be granted subject to unforseen circumstances or extensive PhD projects.
- % of post-graduate programs started by each department.
- Number of MOUs signed with academic and research institutes.
- Minimum 2 applied research projects undertaken per annum.
- Minimum 2 training/short course/workshop organised by each department for students and local community.
- Number of local travel grants per annum.
- Number of foreign travel grants per annum.
- Number of Departmental Research Committee meetings held per department per annum.
- Number of Faculty Research Committee meetings held per faculty per annum.
- Number of Guest Lectures by prominent academicians per section.
