Community Support Programme
Every undergraduate student at the Medical College is required to complete a required hours of community service during their degree program. This requirement is designed to:
- Promote Civic Responsibility: Encourage students to actively participate in community service, developing a sense of responsibility and commitment to societal well-being.
- Enhance Personal Development: Offer opportunities for personal growth by challenging students to step outside their academic environment and engage with diverse community needs.
- Strengthen Academic Skills: Allow students to apply their academic knowledge and professional skills in practical settings, reinforcing their learning and fostering a deeper understanding of their field.
Coordination
The Student Support Centre coordinates with range of initiatives and programs aimed at addressing various community needs. These initiatives include:
- Health Camps and Clinics: Organizing free medical camps and clinics in underserved areas to provide essential healthcare services and screenings. Students gain hands-on experience while contributing to the health and well-being of the community.
- Educational Workshops and Seminars: Conducting workshops and seminars on health education, preventive care, and wellness topics. These events aim to educate the community and promote healthy lifestyles.
- Collaborations with Local Organizations: Partnering with non-profit organizations, government agencies, and local health departments to work on joint community service projects and research initiatives.
- Volunteer Opportunities: Providing students with opportunities to volunteer in various community settings, including hospitals, clinics, schools, and social service organizations.
- Awareness Campaigns: Leading campaigns to raise awareness about important health issues and promote community engagement in health-related activities.
