BUCM’s Strategic Plan for Student Capacity Building & Research Output

 

OBJECTIVES:

 

The objectives Strategic plan for Student Capacity Building & Research Output at BUCM are:

  • Providing guidance and support to students, in developing research proposals, protocols, and methodologies through research mentors.
  • Guidance and supervision of the Student Research Society.
  • Allocating student research groups to research mentors from amongst the faculty members.
  • Reviewing and approving student research group proposals to ensure compliance with ethical standards, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies.
  • Monitoring the progress of ongoing research projects and providing necessary feedback and recommendations for improvement via student research coordinator..
  • Facilitating collaboration and interdisciplinary research initiatives within the college and with external partners.
  • Organizing workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance research skills and promote research culture among stakeholders.
  • Advising on research funding opportunities, grant applications, and budget allocations.
  • Evaluating and recognizing outstanding research contributions through awards, grants, or other forms of recognition.

 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

 

  1. 1 publication per student research group in HEC or PMDC recognized student journals per per annum.
  2. Minimum 1 workshop to be organized by each basic and clinical sciences department in collaboration with the student research society(1st to final year) in the Annual Student’s Research Conference of BUCM.
  3. Minimum 1 paper and 1 poster to be presented by each student group across each educational year in the Annual `student’s Research Conference of BUCM.
  4. Organization of an Annual `Student’s Research Conference by the student’s research society.
  5. Minimum 2 applied research projects undertaken per annum by research groups in 4th and final year.
  6. Minimum 2 training/short course/workshop organised  to be attended by all educational years (1st to final year).
  7. Number of local travel grants for students per annum.
  8. Number of foreign travel grants for students per annum.
  9. Number of Student Research Committee meetings held per annum.
