Introduction

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Bahria University is dedicated to promoting academic excellence, critical thinking, and a comprehensive understanding of society and human behavior. It provides an interdisciplinary learning environment where students engage with diverse fields such as English Language & Literature, Linguistics, Anthropology, Sociology, Public Health and Development Studies.

The department combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, equipping students with analytical, communication, and research skills essential for addressing contemporary global challenges. Supported by a qualified faculty, it fosters intellectual growth, ethical awareness, and social responsibility.

Through a strong emphasis on research, innovation, and community engagement, the department prepares graduates to contribute effectively to national and international development.

Welcome to the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences!

As the Chair of the department, I introduce you to our diverse academic community. Our department is dedicated to fostering critical thinking, interdisciplinary research, and holistic education. We believe that the humanities and social sciences play a significant role in shaping a better society. Our department offers a wide array of courses spanning disciplines as diverse as English Language & Literature, Linguistics, Anthropology, Sociology, Public Health and Development Studies. Our faculty members have been trained at prestigious universities worldwide and they bring their expertise in research and global perspective to the classrooms. Believing in social and cultural harmony, the department promotes interdisciplinary research and provides different forums to our students where they can introduce the beauty in differences and embrace this diversity through a variety of curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

As you begin your academic quest within our department, you will find a conducive learning environment, altruistic educators, and opportunities for personal as well as professional growth.
