Awareness Seminar on Ending Digital Violence Against Women and Girls

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Bahria University College of Medicine (BUCM), Islamabad, organized an Awareness Seminar on ‘End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls’ on 2nd December 2025, in line with the National Commission on the Status of Women’s (NCSW) nationwide 16 Days of Activism campaign to raise awareness and strengthen efforts against gender-based violence.

Mr. Mubashir Sargana, Manager SOC, DHA Islamabad, served as the Guest Speaker, delivering an insightful talk on recognizing forms of digital violence, safe online practices, early reporting, and supporting victims of cyber-harassment. Principal BUCM, Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Prof. Dr. Shazia Nisar HI(M), in her concluding remarks appreciated the initiative and stressed the collective responsibility of creating safe digital and physical environments for all.

The program also included brief remarks by HOD &Prof. Dr. Saima Qamar, Dr Beenish Khurram and Dr Ayesha Basharat from the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, emphasizing the urgent need for awareness and prevention. Short recorded video messages from faculty members, further reinforced the department’s commitment to empowering individuals through education and advocacy.

A campus awareness walk was also held, where faculty and staff members carried a banner to amplify the message. The walk reflected BUCM’s collective commitment to preventing digital violence against women and girls.
