Teaching of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology starts from 3rd year MBBS as this is the only subject of Basic Sciences in which students go for clinical visits to trauma centers and Medico-legal units. It is essential that the medical students must gain a clear understanding for medico-legal matters about death, sexual offences and use of narcotics/poisons during course of their training.
The department of Forensic Medicine is located on the fourth floor of college building. It comprises of Forensic Museum and demonstration room. The museum of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology is well equipped with all required articles as per directions of PMDC including weapons of assaults, models of traumatology, postmortem surgical kits, various samples of poisons / narcotics, medico-legal cases X-Rays, slides, microscopes, human skeletons, bones, human and animal viscera’s sample etc.
Forensic Medicine department bear the required postgraduate qualified faculty staff members as per requirements of PMDC.
