Eligibility Criteria (MBBS Session 2025–26)

1. Bahria University Medical College of Medicine is affiliated with National University of Medical Science (NUMS) for admissions in MBBS. NUMS is the Admitting University for BUCMI Islamabad, affiliated and all Military (Armed Forces) Administered Medical and Dental Colleges and therefore NUMS will conduct entry test and process admissions in MBBS programs of BUCMI as well.

2. Passing MDCAT (NUMS)-2024 with minimum 55% marks for MBBS shall be mandatory for admission in NUMS affiliated / administered colleges.

3. Obtained a HSSC / F.Sc. (Pre-Medical) or an equivalent 12th grade qualification recognised in Pakistan and having obtained a minimum of sixty percent (60%) marks therein, or a higher percentage as may be notified by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council; and passed the mandatory subjects of biology and chemistry. The student may opt to qualify either physics or mathematics in the examination of the Higher Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent 12th grade qualification recognised in Pakistan.

Provided that the mandatory requirement of MDCAT shall not apply to students seeking admission on a special program seat predefined exclusively for foreign students, and on the seats reserved for overseas Pakistanis. Such students shall qualify SAT-Il with minimum score of 550 in each subject or a foreign MCAT examination or UCAT examination with 50% marks in the subjects as prescribed in Regulation 3 (c).

BUCMI is open to all academically qualified candidates, regardless of gender, religion, race, creed, or domicile. Students from anywhere in Pakistan and overseas may apply. Admission is strictly based on merit. This college is allowed to admit 100 students in MBBS Program.

Note: A student shall have the right to pay the tuition fee on a quarterly, six monthly or annual basis to the college. A student paying the college on a six-monthly basis in advance shall be granted a 2% discount in the tuition fee and a student paying the college on an annual basis in advance shall be granted a 4% discount in the tuition fee.

  1. The criteria for merit formulation and admission have been finalized by PM&DC vide PM&DC Medical and Dental Undergraduate Education (Admissions, Curriculum and Conduct) Policy and Regulations 2023 dated 13 July 2023.

Admission Procedure

 

Admissions are advertised in  the university and college websites. Candidates have to take MDCAT (NUMS) test for MBBS programs, BUCMI is affiliated with NUMS for admission purpose only. Candidates desirous of seeking admission in BUCMI, must register online at NUMS website:

https://numspak.edu.pk and take its Entry test. Criteria of applying, minimum score required and formulation are given on NUMS website. This is also placed in the section of admission criteria of BUCMI and BU websites.

1.Procedure for candidates seeking admission in BUCMI on open merit in first year MBBS is as under:

Eligibility criteria:

HSSC Aggregate: Minimum 60%, MDCAT (NUMS) score Minimum 55% for MBBS

Mandatory Steps:

a) Register with NUMS, take MDCAT (NUMS) test and pass it with minimum 55% for MBBS. Follow all instructions given on its website.

b) For calculating merit, candidates must have minimum of 60% aggregate marks in three science subjects of HSSC out of which Chemistry and Biology are compulsory. For third subject must have taken either Physics or Maths. Minimum aggregate marks of three science subjects is 60%.

c) Candidates must submit MDCAT (NUMS), HSSC and SSC results to NUMS on its portal before closing date so that their names can be included in the merit list.

2.NUMS will provide a merit list to BUCMI.

3.BUCMI will issue merit wise offer letters to candidates and finalize their admissions.

Admission Requirement

Age Limit for Admission in MBBS:

There is no minimum or maximum age limit for admission in MBBS programs at BUCMI.

Test to be taken:

All applicants have to take MDCAT (NUMS) test.

For admission in BUCMI, candidates have to register with NUMS on its website: https://numspak.edu.pk and have to take the NUMS entry test. This test is mandatory.

Candidates are advised to keep themselves updated by regularly visiting the websites of, NUMS and BU.

Selection Criteria:

BUCMI is attached for admission purpose with NUMS. Therefore NUMS will prepare and provide merit list to BUCMI for admissions which will be based on the following criteria:

Interviews

Interviews are part of verification of original credentials, meeting with candidates and his / her parents / guardian. Applicants are cautioned that interview, although held towards the end of the admission process is only one component of the whole process and contributes no weightage to the cumulative merit.

Final Selection

Applicants are offered admissions starting from top of merit list. The top applicants on the merit list are invited, in writing, to join the first year MBBS classes. No formal waiting list is accounted, but all the remaining applicants stay on the waiting list. Any dropouts from the class are replaced by candidates on the waiting list, according to merit, before commencement of classes.

Note: Selected students are required to confirm their intent to join the college depositing the admission fee, tuition fee and other fees, within the stipulated period. If a candidate does not reports or clear the dues for by the specified date then that seat is offered to next candidate on the waiting list. No further claim of admission by the incumbent applicant is valid is such an eventually.

Note: Since BUCMI is a constituent unit of Bahria University, its students are required to abide by all rules and regulations, academic as well as administrative including the dress code promulgated by the university statutes, notifications, circulars, resolutions of regulatory bodies, students handbook and executive or administrative directives.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1.    What is the system of education at BUCMI?

Ans. BUCMI has a hybrid type system and both large class format (lectures) and small group class format sessions (small group discussions) are used to deliver information to the students. Scenario based teaching methods are used to create interest among the students about the subject and to broaden their base of knowledge. Moreover problem based learning (PBL) tool is also applied for the self empowerment of the students. Evidence based medicine is the recent tool being used as one of the teaching methods. All the subjects are integrated to have better comprehension of the medical curriculum.

Q2.   Is BUCMI Recognised by PM&DC?

Ans. Yes, BUCMI is recognised by the PM&DC.

Q3.   How students are facilitated in their education?

Ans. The students are facilitated by the mentoring system throughout their educational process and stay at the BUCMI. There is one mentor for every 10 students. The mentor, a faculty member is responsible to facilitate the student in his/ her academic activities.

Q4. What is the overall marking scheme in each professional year?

Ans.Twenty percent (20%) marks are reserved for internal evaluation and 80% for the professional (annual) examination conducted by the Bahria University. Internal evaluation includes continuous assessment tests (CAT), end of block examinations, problem based learning (PBL), journal assignments, attendance, objective structured practical examination (OSPE), objective structured clinical examination (OSCE), viva/voce, field visits, evidence based medicine and behavior of the student at the campus.

Q5. How are students kept aware of emerging trends in medical education?

Ans. We invite eminent speakers for guest talk lectures from abroad as well as our national experts to create awareness among students regarding current issues of public health, their suggested remedies and emerging trends and innovations in the field of medical education. Besides, symposia and seminars are also conducted to groom our students.

Q9. Does the college have hostel facility?

Ans. Yes, there is limited hostel facility available for both boys and girls. The allocation of hostel seat is on first come first serve basis.

Q10. Can a student apply on an overseas Pakistani seat?

Ans. Only candidates who fulfill the criteria of being an overseas Pakistani can apply for these seats. Details regarding these seats can be obtained from the BUCMI Islamabad admission office.

Q11. What is the mode of payment of college dues?

Ans. All Payments have to be made in the form of demand draft or pay order in favor of “Bahria University College of Medicine”.No cheque and cash is accepted.
