Our college continues to progress steadily and confidently. We are housed in a purpose-built campus designed to support high-quality medical education. The building includes modern laboratories, spacious lecture halls, tutorial rooms, and well-maintained museums that give you the hands-on academic exposure you need.
Our newly upgraded library now offers an expanded lending area, a dedicated reference section, and a vibrant virtual library. It remains open until 8 PM on working days and stays active with students who prefer a calm study environment. The virtual library is fully functional and will soon include even more online learning resources and educational websites.
Our Department of Medical Education plays a central role in supporting both students and faculty. With our Associate Deans currently training as Medical Educationists, we continue to introduce improved teaching and learning methods led by experienced clinical professors. Basic Science Departments will soon begin research activities with the launch of our Multi-Disciplinary Laboratory, while the Community Medicine Department is already guiding students in meaningful community-based research.
PNS Shifa, our teaching hospital, is a well-established tertiary care centre serving Armed Forces personnel, their families, veterans, and deserving civilian patients across Sindh. It also works closely with major Armed Forces hospitals such as AFIC, CMH Rawalpindi, and Military Hospital Rawalpindi for advanced medical care. In the near future, PNS Shifa is expected to be upgraded to an advanced independent tertiary care facility, allowing us to increase postgraduate training positions for our graduates.
Clinical training at BUMDC is both rich and practical. Students have access to all major departments—operating theatres, ER, ICU, and CCU—where they learn under the guidance of senior consultants, both civilian and uniformed. Postgraduate registrars provide invaluable hands-on teaching, and it is a matter of pride that many of our own graduates are now working as house officers, enthusiastically teaching the next batches.
Evening clinics are a mandatory and highly beneficial part of the clinical years. Here, students learn real-time patient interaction, write histories, and observe clinical decision-making. Surgical skills are practiced in our Skills Laboratory and reinforced by observing procedures in the operating theaters.
