Mission of the MS Program in Medical Laboratory Science (MS-MLS):

To prepare skillful postgraduate lab professionals with advanced scientific knowledge and expertise to deliver quality health care services in the field of laboratory sciences.

RATIONALE & SCOPE OF THE PROGRAM (MS-MLS)

Medical laboratory professionals are the vital members of the health care team. Doctors make many of their decisions about diagnosis and treatment of disease based on laboratory test results and about 70 percent of treatment decisions are based on these results. This Programme will     

  •          Facilitate to fulfil the indispensable need of specialized postgraduate education in the field of medical lab sciences due to lack or less opportunities nationwide.
  •          Provide excellent opportunity to laboratory technologists already working in clinical labs and hospitals to establish their career as senior medical lab technologist and can earn a decent salary.
  •         Provide a career path to the Medical lab technology students and lab workers with advanced research opportunities as scientists, which can boost their professional career and enhances the promotion chances up to senior and supervisor level.
  •         Enable the allied health science department to fully utilize its preexisting laboratory resources and PhD qualified faculty for future growth of allied health sciences
  •          Develop specialized medical lab postgraduates for provision of quality health care in the province and country

 

Outcomes of the Program (MS-MLS)

  •            At the end of the Programme medical lab professionals will be able to
  •          Apply the expertise in performing, analyzing and reporting the full range of clinical laboratory tests
  •          Facilitate diagnosis of diseases as team member with physicians.
  •          Interpret patient`s results and suggest or select appropriate additional testing.
  •          Efficiently apply the administrative strategies in clinical lab sciences field including financial operations, marketing, and human resource management of the clinical laboratory set up
  •          Provide cost-effective, high-quality, value-added laboratory services.
  •          Exhibit the qualities of effective teacher for delivery of quality medical lab education
  •          Produce active researchers in the field of medical lab sciences for generating innovative concepts and ideas.

PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP AT BUHSC

Patent Drafting and Filingpre-workshop was held at the fifth BUHSCK international conference on 7 June 2023, focusing on Contemporary Trends in Quality Healthcare. The workshop was organized in collaboration with the Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) of Pakistan, targeting postgraduate students and researchers. Prof. Dr. Mehreen Lateef, Principal BUCAHS, appreciated the efforts of IPO Pakistan for collaboration and organizing an informative and interactive session.

WORKSHOP ON “BIOLOGICAL RISK MITIGATION”

Dr. Madiha Kanwal, participated in 3-days Train the Trainer Workshop on “Biological Risk Mitigation” from May 11-13, 2023, held at LUMHS, Hyderabad.

WORKSHOP ON “RESEARCH PROPOSAL WRITING- SECRETS AND REASONS FOR FAILURE”

Faculty of Allied Health Science Mrs. Shabana Wasif and Mr. M. Adeel Siddiqui participated in three days’ workshop on “Research proposal Writing- Secrets and reasons for Failure” held on March 10, 14 & 17, 2023 at KIBGE.

14th INTERNATIONAL BIENNIAL CONFERENCE

Senior Associate professor Dr. Nain Tara was invited as guest Speaker in the 14th International Biennial Conference organized by the Pakistan Society for Microbiology (FIBC-PSM 2023) in collaboration with Salim Habib University in Karachi held on Nov 22-24-2023.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING ON “USE CARE & MAINTENANCE OF HIGH- TECH SCIENTIFIC & LABORATORY INSTRUMENTS”

Senior Biomedical Engineer Mr. M. Adeel Siddiqui participated in two days professional training on “Use Care & Maintenance of High- Tech Scientific & Laboratory Instruments” held on November 29-30, 2023 at PCSIR, Karachi.

POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH CONFERENCE

Ms. Shafaq Mehmood presented a research poster at the Centre of Excellence in Women's Health & Research's Postgraduate Research Conference 2023, held on March 21st, 2023, at JPMC.
