The B.S. Degree in Biotechnology is designed to give you fundamental training in basic scientific principles as well as in specific concepts, techniques, and applications used in biotechnology. The Biotechnology B.S. is rigorous degree, providing excellent preparation for medical school, dental school, and graduate school, as well as for jobs in the life sciences. The students may seek their career in educational institutes, scientific research and development, management in biotechnology and pharmaceutical sector.
To prepare qualified graduates equipped with knowledge, latest technological skills and innovative research expertise in the field of biotechnology, attained in a collegiate environment supported through national and international linkages, for provision of high-quality services in the society to serve community.Program Education Objectives (PEOs) of BS-Biotechnology Program:
1- To demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the core concepts, principles, applications and advancement in biotechnology for life-long learning and professional growth (academic education and scientific knowledge)
2- Equip students with hands-on lab experience, experimental designs, and data analysis techniques for problem solving in biotechnology
3- Develop students’ ability to effectively communicate biotechnical concepts experimental data and finding through oral written and visual presentations to encourage active engagement with society.
4- Encourage critical thinking and responsible decision making to promote sustainable and ethically sound biotechnological applications to serve the community.
5- Identify and analyze different biotechnological problems leading to designing and implementation of novel biotechnological research solutions for coping the global challenges.
At the end of the program, student will be able to
PLO-5 Design and formulate biotechnological solutions using scientific literacy through identifying complex issues in biotechnology.
Biotechnology refers to the employment of various types of “technology” to use, exploit, modify or improve existing biological processes for a specific purpose; its overarching goal is to enhance the quality of human life – be it directly or indirectly – by producing and/or developing effective pharmaceuticals, bioenergy, disease-resistant and high-yield crops as well as animals, and microbes for remediation in an efficient, cost-effective and ethically responsible manner. The field has already shown immense promise and further innovations are certain to culminate in dramatic improvements in existing technologies and outcomes. Biotechnology is the next wave of change that is likely to be as sweeping and invasive as that brought about by information technology.
Candidates having 50% marks or above in Intermediate Science (Premedical/ Pre-Engineering) or equivalent examination are eligible to apply and all candidates seeking admission are required to appear in entrance test which will be conducted by Bahria University on particular time and date.
