Independence Day Celebrations 2017

Every year the month of August revives the spirit of patriotism. It refreshes the memories of the sacrifices made by our forefathers in 1947 so that we as the descendants of the nation could witness the rising sun of independence. It reminds us of our commitment towards our nation to safeguard its rights, work towards prosperity and stand in solidarity against any threat.

Celebrated on the 14th of August, Pakistan’s Independence Day is a national holiday on which flag raising ceremonies are held throughout the country and special programs are organized to pay homage to nation’s brave heroes. Pakistanis unite together under the green and white flag of Pakistan and rejoice their freedom. The zeal and enthusiasm on display is the blend of finest emotions that creates an atmosphere of selfless pride.

As special functions are held throughout the country, same way Independence Day was also celebrated at Bahria University Medical and Dental College on 14th August, 2017. The college’s courtyard was all decorated with national flags with green and white colored balloons and ribbons. All faculty members from Medical and Dental sections were assembled at the courtyard at 8:45.

The ceremony was synchronized with the official ceremony taking place live from the Convention Centre, Islamabad on at 9.00am sharp, which was conducted by the Honorable President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain. In BUMDC, Vice Admiral (Retd) Tahseen Ullah Khan HI (M), Director General Bahria University Medical and Dental College hoisted the Parcham. The national anthem of Pakistan was sung by the entire audience with the bottom of their heart.

An alluring Pakistani-flag replica cake was also on display to mark the celebration. The cake cutting was performed by the Director General BUMDC Vice Admiral (Retd) Tahseen Ullah Khan HI, Dean of Health Sciences Prof Asadullah Khan, Vice Principal Medical college Dr. Ambreen Usmani, Vice Principal Dental college Dr. Kusloom Fatima Rizvi and Vice Principal DPT section Dr. Aziz Ahmed. At the end of the graceful ceremony refreshments were served. The passionate morning provided a platform for the attendees to create cherishing moments which would be embedded in their memories for long time.
