Bahria University was established by Pakistan Navy through a presidential ordinance on 7th Feb, 2000. Every year, we celebrate this milestone across all campuses. The 18th foundation day was celebrated at BUMDC on 7th Feb, 2018 followed by cultural day celebrations. The day began with a graceful ceremony held in BUMDC courtyard at 10.30 am to commemorate the Foundation Day. The courtyard was embellished with the prime colors of Bahria University depicting the zeal and enthusiasm of Bahrians. All the faculty members, staff attended the ceremony. Honorable Director General BUMDC Rear Admiral Imtiaz Ahmad HI (M) hoisted the national flag with full honors while faculty students and staff members sang the national anthem with pride.

Flag hoisting was followed by cake cutting ceremony which was decorated with Bahria University logo. Director General BUMDC Rear Admiral Imtiaz Ahmad HI (M) along with Prof Asad Ullah Khan (Dean & Principal of Medical Section), Prof Wahab Kadri (Principal Dental Section), Dr. Khalid Aziz ( Vice Principal Physiotherapy section), Dr. Ambreen Usmani (Vice Principal Medical Section) and Dr. Kulsoom Fatima Rizvi (Vice Principal Dental Section) cut the cake and were received by an immense applause.

Bahria University, in addition to its profound academic record, also emphasizes on the celebration of the rich culture of Pakistan to highlight the importance of traditions related to different ethnicities with the stress on unity. After the commemoration of foundation day, all students and faculty members were headed towards the Ibn-e-Sina Auditorium for the cultural day celebrations. Director General BUMDC graced the occasion along with Principal & Vice Principals of BUMDC.

The campus auditorium was brought to life by the arduous work of students. True culture of Pakistan was illuminated by the native dresses worn by the Bahrians preaching the Quaid’s message of unity and brotherhood. The ceremony began at 11:30 am. Comparing and announcements are organized by debate and literary club.

The ceremony begins with hilarious skit “BUMDC ka Dastar Khwan ” that received applause and cheers from audience.

It is followed by “Motion Video” comprised of Cultural Heritage of all the provinces of Pakistan. Northern areas of Pakistan, which form the roof of the world, also possess a distinctive heritage that was presented by the Bahrain’s through this video.

Marvelous dance performance, presented by various students dressed in cultural apparel representing the national theme and four provinces of Pakistan. The cultural songs were heartwarming and audiences were cheering with all their heart. All the performances received applause and cheers from the audiences.

As soon as the play ended the stage was rocked by the zealous dance performances and solo songs by the students.

Sense of humor which forms the part and parcel of the colorful Pakistani nation was highlighted in various plays that were presented in a delightful manner.

In the end, souvenir, shields and appreciation certificates were distributed by Honorable Director General BUMDC among the wining participants, organizers, and staff for their remarkable dedication in making the event possible.

After the ceremony ended in the auditorium, all students and faculty members moved outside where different stalls were set up by the event club. The exquisite stalls highlighted the classy handicrafts from all over the country. Sindh, Punjab, Baluchistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit Baltistan cultural specialties were displayed in the stalls. Different cuisines were on display that tickled the taste buds of the attendees. The entire ceremony of foundation and cultural day gave impetus to the fact that Bahria University is a torch bearer not only in academic field but also in extracurricular sphere, and this makes it unique in the league.

Behind the success of this event were studious minds of faculty, students and staff of BUMDC, who worked day in and day out. The castles in the sky were brought into reality by the industrious collective efforts of the Event Club, Arts and Dramatics Club, Music Club, Media Club and students who put their energies in the entire event, creating priceless moments in the way, that future doctors would cherish rest of their lives.
