Media Studies alumnus Usman Shahid delivered an insightful and engaging lecture on evolving newsrooms for the students of BS-1. The session was focused on how tech-fuelled changes are reshaping traditional newsrooms across Pakistan and creating diverse opportunities for individuals with digital skills.

Usman has worked at leading news organizations such as GEO News and SAMAA TV (Digital), and he is currently leading Digital Rights Monitor (DRM) at Media Matters for Democracy (MMfD). His portfolio includes work on digital rights, press freedoms, media and internet censorship and corporate accountability in relation to Big Tech. He has also reviewed and edited various research publications on information disorders, social media, and internet regulations.
