The students of Mphil and PMD went to the Karachi Psychiatric Hospital for their internship rotation. For a span of two weeks, the students were involved in the assessment and therapeutic process of patients admitted in the general ward and the private rooms. Therapy was largely supportive in nature with emphasis on how individuals can cope up with their presenting complaints. Since individuals were concerned about the lack of human support, the aim was to indulge them in activities and give them a chance for catharsis. Moreover, the students also observed psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers in the outpatient department. The purpose was to learn diagnosis and basic skills of client therapist interaction. Overall, it was a great learning experience for the students and it was a good opportunity for them to see how doctors, psychologists and social workers can work in collaboration for the betterment of patients.
