INAUGURATION
Bahria Humanities and Social Sciences School Karachi Campus organized Two Days National Research Conference on ‘Emerging Trends in Social Sciences’ on May 25 & 26, 2022’ It was structured into four tracks, namely English Linguistics & Literature, Media Education, Islamic Education and Social Sciences.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Mr. Javed Jabbar (former Senator and Federal Minister) and by keynote speakers Prof. Dr. Sajida Zaki, Ms. Amber Rahim Shamsi, Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig and Dr. Muhammad Imran Ashraf Usmani. The welcome address was given by Prof. Dr. Adam Saud, Dean, Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences and the conference overview was presented by Dr. Oyoon Abdul Razaaq Principal, Bahria Humanities and Social Sciences School, Karachi Campus.
ENGLISH LITERATURE & LINGUISTICS TRACK
The 1st National Conference on ‘Emerging Trends in Social Sciences’ was organized by Bahria Humanities and Social Sciences School, Bahria University Karachi Campus. It was structured into four tracks, namely English Linguistics & Literature, Media Education, Islamic Education and Social Sciences.
On first day of this conference the panel discussion on “New Literary Perspectives and World Englishes” was organized under English Literature & Linguistics track.
The Session Chair for this Panel discussion was Dr. Muhammad Farid (Associate Professor of English Language and Director CMPP at NED University of Engineering & Technology) and different Panelists have participated namely Dr. Fatima Dar (CEO of Oak Consulting which provides consultancy services in the fields of teacher development and research, curriculum and materials development, educational reforms, monitoring and evaluation, corporate leadership, people’s management skills, and language development), Dr. Irfan Sheikh (Assistant professor at Greenwich university Karachi.), Dr. Nasreen M Ahsan Professor (An ELT professional for more than four decades) and Dr. Naeem Akhter (HEC approved supervisor, Associate Professor at SZABIST).
ISLAMIC STUDIES
The 1st National Conference on ‘Emerging Trends in Social Sciences’ was organized by Bahria Humanities and Social Sciences School, Bahria University Karachi Campus. It was structured into four tracks, namely Islamic Education, Media Education, English Linguistics & Literature and Social Sciences.
On first day of this conference the panel discussion on “Educational Challenges for Pakistan and their Solutions in the light of Islamic Teachings” was organized under Islamic Education track. It was a houseful session at Fatima Jinnah Hall Bahria University Karachi Campus.
The session was chaired by Mr. Salman Asif Siddiqui, Founder and Director ERDC (Educational Resource Development Center) and different Panelists have participated namely Dr. Irfan Hyder, Vice Chancellor Ziauddin University and Founder L2L Academy, Dr. Umair Mahmood Siddiqui, Assistant Professor Karachi University and Member Council for Islamic Ideology Islamabad, Mufti Najeeb Khan, Principal Hira Foundation School and Former Syndicate Member of NED University, Mr. Asim Ismail, Founder Fajr Academy, Fatiha Academy, Tarbiah International Curriculum and Al Wasilah Trust. Director Bahira University Karachi Campus Commodore Retired Muzammil Hussain Sitara e Imtiaz Military also graced the session and gave his closing remarks.
MEDIA EDUCATION
The 1st National Conference on ‘Emerging Trends in Social Sciences’ was organized by Bahria Humanities and Social Sciences School, Bahria University Karachi Campus. It was structured into four tracks, namely Media Education, English Linguistics & Literature, Islamic Education and Social Sciences.
On second day of this conference the strategic discussion on “Media Education: Modern Trends and Requirements” was organized under Media Education track. The session aimed to conduct a debate between the industry giants and media educationalists on what actual requirements of the industry are and in which areas the media schools lack and how to fill those gaps.
The Session Chair for this strategic discussion was Dr. Adam Saud ( Professor and Dean Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Bahria University) and different Panelists have participated namely Mr. Kamal Siddiqi ( Director Ajj News), Ms. Amber Rahim ( Director CEJ – Institute of Business Administration ), Ms. Najia Ashar ( CEO at Global Neighborhood for Media Innovation), Mr. Mazhar Abbas ( Senior Journalist and Mediaperson), Mr. Muhammad Fahad ( CEO at Instinct Digital Agency), Dr. Fouzia Naz (Chairperson-Department of Media Studies at University of Karachi), Dr. Shujat Hussain ( Chairperson-Department of Media Studies at Jinnah University of Women), Dr. Ayaz Siddiqui ( Assistant Professor at Greenwich University), Dr. Zainab Bhutto ( Director of Institute of Professional Psychology at Bahria University), Dr. Masroor Khanum ( Chairperson-Department of Mass Communication at Federal Urdu University Arts, Science, and Technology) and Dr. Mahe Darakshan ( Chairperson-Department of Media Studies at Bahria University).
Strategic Discussion of SS Track
The 1st National Conference on ‘Emerging Trends in Social Sciences’ was organized by Bahria Humanities and Social Sciences School, Bahria University Karachi Campus. It was structured into four tracks, namely Social Sciences, Media Education, English Linguistics & Literature and Islamic Education.
On second day of this conference the strategic discussion on “Social Sciences at Tertiary Level in Pakistan’ was organized under Social Science Track.
The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Adam Saud, moderated by Dr. Nooreen Mujahid and Prof. Dr. Amanullah Larik, Dr. Bashir Ahmad, Dr. Kahlida Ghaus, Dr. Adnan Anwar and Dr Sahar Nadeem.
Closing Ceremony
The closing ceremony of 1st National Conference on Emerging trends in Social Sciences was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Ishrat Hussain(former Governor State Bank of Pakistan/Economist and Advisor to Prime Minister) and by keynote speaker Mr. Nadeem Hussain (CEO of Tameer Microfinance Bank / Tech Entrepreneur.
