Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences (E&ES) at Bahria University Karachi Campus is making all out efforts by offering innovative curriculum with the help of qualified faculty members in both Earth & Environmental Sciences. Supported by state-of-the-art teaching and research laboratories in the paramount areas of exploration geophysical and environmental sciences, we offer the tools to equip our students with hands-on experience through exposure to field and case studies across Pakistan. On the footprints of world-leading institutes, the Department offers both undergraduate (BS) and graduate (MS & PhD) programs in Environmental Sciences, and Geophysics. With specialized courses in Terrestrial & Marine Ecology, Coastal & Marine Environment, Climate Change & Global warming, Environmental & Risk Assessment studies, Pollution Monitoring & Control Technology, Geomorphology & Mineral resource development, Hydrogeology, Geological Mapping with GIS Modelling & Satellite Imaging, Seismology & Tectonics, Oil & Gas Exploration, Coal and Metal Resource Mining, Urban Planning & Sustainable Development, etc., we provide knowledge with global prospective.

As a HOD, I believe to provide a platform for exploring new dimensions by the convergence of modern techniques with classical themes of environmental and geosciences. It is our vision: to disseminate best contemporary knowledge; to develop multi-dimensional skills and to inculcate ethical values for the preparation of a confident, proactive, and capable crop of professionals who can undertake challenges in the fields of Earth & Environmental Sciences. Keeping in view the sensitivity of global issues of climate change & global warming, excessive consumption of natural resources, frequent occurrence of natural hazards, coastal and marine resource degradation, melting of glaciers & alteration in river courses, and other anthropogenic impacts on environment, are addressed in our curriculum to inculcate knowledge and technical skills to strengthen our future human resource. I believe information technology age that we are living in, requires us to prepare human resource with appropriate software’s training used in environmental & geophysical analyses with the help of Artificial intelligence tools, and GIS & Remote Sensing methods. Our laboratory infrastructure established by Bahria University with the financial support of Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) provide our students an up-to date instrumentation and software’s needed in E& ES research with a tangible technical support of Landmark Resources (LMKR) and dGB (Netherlands).

Our academic training and mentoring also focuses on the development of persona with interpersonal skills that help graduates to elevate their academic profile with veracity in character, in becoming a problem solver, and into a competitive professional in the annals of science and technology. Student Chapters of professional societies serve as the incubation centers for further professional grooming and organizational skill development. Currently, the graduates of E & ES are providing their services in energy and hydrogeology sector, wastewater treatment and pollution monitoring sector, geotechnical companies, health safety & environment (HSE) requirement in industry and translating knowledge in Public sector research and academic institutions.
