Bahria University Karachi Campus concluded its 1st International Conference on ‘Conventional & Unconventional Resource Exploration Hydrocarbon Energy & Challenges’ CUREHECS-2016 on Thursday 22 September, 2016. Mr. Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, Minister of Education graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
While addressing the audience, Mr. Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar emphasized that currently, Oil and Gas accounts for more than 40 per cent of the world energy mix. This is because of its unique combination of attributes i.e. sufficiency, accessibility, versatility, ease of transport and, in many areas, low costs. Advances in technology make oil and gas a cleaner, safer and more efficient fuel. The conference, themed on Future of Petroleum, has accentuated the present status and possible options & solutions for formulating strategies for future hydrocarbon resource exploration in the country.
The papers read in the conference were rich in content including different topics of exploring hydrocarbon and energy resources, which is the hallmark of
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The conference has also provided an opportunity to interact with foreign and local delegates and share their own research experiences in geophysics, geology and environment. The joint venture of Bahria University and PPL is really a fruitful for the future research initiative and sustainable development.
Vice Admiral (Retd) Tanveer Faiz HI(M), orated upon the importance of hydrocarbon resources in the light of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative taken by the Government of Pakistan.
Dr. Mubarik Ali, Head of Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences and PPL chair expressed exhilaration while saying that Bahria University has been successful in gathering the researchers from all relevant fields and providing them a platform to discuss and present the modern ideas. He also emphasized that Pakistan needs to enhance such innovating platforms for encouraging our researchers and academicians so that they can learn and share their experiences at large. Further, they can be able to contribute in the growth of our country and broaden their research horizons.
Director General Bahria University Karachi Campus Vice Admiral (Retd) Khawaja Ghazanfar Hussain HI(M), Conference Chair thanked all the participants and sponsors of the conference and endeavored to hold more of such sessions in future to promote research for the development of Pakistan.
The conference, a joint venture between Bahria University and Pakistan Petroleum Limited aimed at providing an opportunity for researchers and practitioners to present their contributions and exchange ideas related to various challenges in the domain of conventional and unconventional hydrocarbon resources. A large number of academicians, researcher and students attended.
