Lab – Computer Networks
Category: May 8, 2017

The Computer Networks Laboratory of the Department of Electrical Engineering is the state-of-art laboratory located at Bahria University Karachi Campus. The objective of this laboratory is to give students knowledge of fundamental computer networking issues through hands-on experiments with real network equipment and services. The sequence of labs starts at the physical layer and progress up the protocol stack to the application layer. Topics covered are: Ethernet Cabling, IP address planning and management, VLAN (Virtual LAN), VTP (Virtual Trunking Protocol), Address Learning Mechanism and Port Security of Switch, Static Routing, Dynamic Routing (RIP, OSPF, EIGRP) protocols, IP Camera and VOIP Services Configuration Web-based services configuration.

The main goals of computer networks lab at Bahria University are:

  • Methods and techniques for the design of computer/telecommunication networks
  • Techniques for performance modeling and analysis of computer systems and communication networks
  • Preparing an institutional and national platform for student-driven experimental research in networking.
  • Indigenous development of experiments for the laboratory and demonstrations for the classroom environment.

Courses offered in Computer Networks Lab:

  • CEN-369 Data Communication and Networks
