AGHA KHAN UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL AWARENESS SESSION:

SSC BUKC arranged the Aga khan university Hospital (AKUH) children cancer awareness session in Bahria university Karachi campus on Wednesday, 22nd May, 2019 from 1100 to 1200 hours at Al-Beruni Auditorium, Bahria University Karachi Campus. The session was to brief students about the miseries and financial problems of cancer patients and their families and motivate them to extend help to these deserving kids.

Under the umbrella of Pediatric Welfare Program, Aga Khan University’s team delivered the awareness session to develop the sense of civic responsibility in students who would indicate positive effects involving in philanthropy. The focal person of AKUH, Mr. Peter Lobo briefed the audience with this awareness session.

Dr. Zara pediatric surgeon while addressing to the students said that each day at Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH), hundreds of young children are dealt, who are critically ill and are unable to afford quality healthcare. Through Agha Khan Pediatric Welfare Programme, they save thousands of young lives each year. This programme depends on the support of AKUH’s donors and philanthropists, and through this support of their partners they are able to provide the latest, highest quality healthcare to all patients regardless of their ability to pay.

Educational Institutions play a pivotal role in instilling a sense of civic responsibility in students.

The session was to connect young philanthropists with their child patients. Envelops were given to every students and were encouraged to participate in this noble cause of saving needy children, donation box for the same purpose was kept at foyer. Whoever donated the maximum amount would get the opportunity of the academic visit of three hours at AKU and would be given teddy bears to gift cancer patients.

Three hours of Community Support Programme were also given to the students who attended this awareness session.
