The Engineering programs of Bahria University are regulated by the Pakistan Engineering Council. Pakistan became a signatory of Washington Accord in 2018, which is an international standard for engineering education. It stipulates strict quality control measures for Universities to meet if they want to qualify for the membership. The focus is on Outcome Based Education (OBE), where students are judged not just on what was taught but also on what skills they acquired at the end of the course. The engineering departments at Bahria University shifted to OBE in 2016 and the departments were inspected by the PEC inspection team in March 2019. It is a matter of great pride for us that all programs at Islamabad Campus (Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering) were deemed fit for OBE based education and international accreditation based on Washington accord was granted for two years to all the programs. No major deficiency or shortcoming was found in our programs including labs, curriculum, faculty and infrastructure. This accreditation will greatly benefit our graduates as their degrees now will be recognized the world over and they will not require any equivalence or documents to practice as engineers in any developed country. This will immensely enhance their job prospects abroad. This achievement was possible by the untiring efforts of the faculty, HODs and the higher management of the University. We congratulate all the students on this achievement and hope that this will help them in achieving a bright and prosperous future after leaving Bahria University.
